Libraries continue to evolve and adapt to meet the changing needs and expectations of their users. This includes providing access to a wide range of resources and services that can be offered in a physical and/or online environment. In some cases, organizations have opted to have only a virtual library, leveraging technology to interact with clients, one-on-one or in a group setting.
Today’s library experience emphasizes a more client-centered approach to service, with librarians trained to help their users navigate and make the most of the resources available to them. Services provided reflect the needs of the institution and supports the organization’s mission.
In addition, many medical and hospital libraries are focused on offering tailored programs and events that foster learning and engagement, such as subject-specific talks, virtual webinars and workshops and library resource training.
The information below highlights resources and reading materials to help you transform your library and develop services that will support your user community and their various roles in contributing to quality patient care. The “library experience” has been broken down into in-person visit (physical space) and online (virtual) access.
